Social Studies
Write in Phoenician and Greek! CLICK HERE to go the activity in Seesaw. You will write a simple message using the Phoenician and Greek alphabet. Your message should be at least one sentence long. You may write your message directly on the template in Seesaw OR write it on a piece of paper and take a picture with your computer (this option would be easier). The instructions and visual examples are in Seesaw.
Make-up missing Commonlit assignments. You should have at least 8 Commonlit assignments completed. Even if you did all of them, check your Commonlit grades in Illuminate. If you did not get a 4 on any of the previous Commonlit assignments, you may choose another article and attempt a better score. I will use your best scores for your grade.
Finish your Jaguar Narrative. This was due before spring break, but if you did not finish it, or would like to attempt a better score, you may. Read my notes on your essay and ask me in chat how you can improve it.
Reading Expressions Starter. We did this in Seesaw the week before we left to Spring Break.

THURSDAY
Objective: Develop an interesting introduction paragraph that makes it clear to your reader what your essay will be about. Due: Create your Introduction Paragraph in Informative Performance Task Part 2 (Writeable) Focus Questions
Can I construct an interesting introduction with a: Creative Hook, Transition Sentence, and Main Topic (Thesis) Sentence?
Does my essay Introduction Paragraph show my reader what my essay will be about?
Instructions
Go to HMH. Go to your Dashboard. Select Writeable. Launch Writeable.
Click on the assignment: 6th Grade Informative Performance Task Part 2.
We will develop our Introduction Paragraph together.
Let’s briefly review the components of an Introduction Paragraph at this LINK. You can also find this in my ELA Resource folder under Resources.
We will construct an Introduction Paragraph together based on the Main Topic (Thesis) sentence we created yesterday.
I want everyone to take about 5-7 minutes to try to develop an interesting hook. This should be around 3-5 sentences. We will use the student’s hook that I choose. You will all type this hook into Writeable. This is how your essay will begin.
Go ahead and type the Main Topic/Thesis from yesterday after the hook.
But we need a transition sentence now in between the Hook and the Thesis. Try to develop a transition sentence or two. I will choose a student’s transition sentence. We will then type this in together after our Hook and before our Thesis.
*Remember, we are all going to build the same essay by the end of this so you can see how an essay is to be developed. You can use this to study how an Informative Essay is written before the state test. By the end of today, we should all have the same Introduction Paragraph with an interesting hook, transition sentence, and thesis sentence.
